Happy National Poetry Month!

Last year I celebrated National Poetry Month by conducting poetry interviews. And posting one a day, for the whole of April. Well this year, as I didn’t have enough time to gather new poets to interview and still in the middle of  my blog tour. So I thought of doing something different but I didn’t know what. Until I visited Poets.org and saw the many ways to celebrate this month was by doing an anthology.

So, for one whole month, I’ll be sharing with you a poem a day. And not just any poem but my favorite poems. Some I’ve received in my email when I signed up for Poem-A-Day . Others, I’ve either read in class. Been in love with throughout the years. Recommended by others or simply stumbled upon.  With some of the poems, I’ve even tried my hardest to find and upload the reading of the poem itself.

Many of you probably don’t read and write poetry. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy it. So it is my hope, that if a poem touches you or grabs at you. And or even if there’s a particular line or image within the poem that you like. Please share your thoughts and feelings about it in the comments below.

Now, without further ado, here is today’s first poem from my favorites anthology!

  1. Poetry opens a place in my soul different from simple novels. It is the colors of the rainbow, Robert Frost, and Edger Allen Poe, so different and remarkable.
Btw, sniffing like mad after reading the poem by Danez Smith. Must find tissue now.

    • I know right? When I first read it I was blown away. I don’t think I moved a muscle for a few seconds as the poem washed over me. And when I did start to move, the first thing out of my mouth was “whoa.”

    • Oh yes. The goal is not to make myself too crazy with too many commitments. There’s too many things going on in April; A to Z challenge, National Poetry Month 30 poems in 30 days challenge and Camp NaNoWriMo. :-O
