What’s Your Favorite Erasure?

Happy National Poetry Month!

National Poetry Month ends tomorrow but my love of poetry will never end. Although it’s been awhile since I’ve written any poetry due to other current WIP projects. Creating erasure poems allowed me to get back into writing poetry. It even inspired two new poetry ideas I might tackle in the near future.

As you know, for the past four weeks I’ve been posting about four of the six different forms of erasure poetry. After trying out all six, some of them have become my favorites. I like the retype, the black out and although it was a bit messy, the cover up.

So which types of erasure poetry earned your interest? Which types have you tried and or do you like best?  Which erasure poem was your favorite?

As a reminder, here are the basics of each type of erasure poetry. In the retype format, you’re lifting the words you want to use from a text. And rearranging them to create a new poem.

In the black out format, you’re blacking out the words you don’t want to use in a text. Leaving behind a set of words and lines to create a new poem.

In the computer format, you’re using a graphic editor or graphic design tool to erase text you don’t want. Leaving behind a set of words and lines to create a new poem.

In the cut out format, you’re using a cutting tool to cut out the text you don’t want to use. Leaving behind a set of words and lines to create a new poem.

In the covered up format, you’re using physical materials to cover up the text you don’t want to use. Leaving behind a set of words and lines to create a new poem.

And lastly, in the visual format, you’re using artistic materials to draw or cover the text you don’t want. And creating an image atop and or alongside the left behind words and lines while creating a new poem.

Make your choice(s) with the polls below!

As a reminder, here’s all the erasure poems I’ve blogged and created.
