Holy Moly it’s June already?! Well Happy IWSG Day! It’s the first Wednesday of the month. A day for us writers to come together in the blogosphere, sharing the highs the lows of our writing journeys. As a writer, we’re often in our own bubble. Thanks goes to ninja extraordinaire, Alex Cavanaugh, for creating the Insecure Writer’s Support Group. So that we can come out of those bubbles and reconnect with each other.
Our Twitter hashtag and handle are #IWSG and @TheIWSG.
Don’t forget to check out today’s awesome co-hosts: JH Moncrieff, Madeline Mora-Summonte, Jen Chandler, Megan Morgan, and Heather Gardner!
So what’s going on with me?
Well, I almost scared myself shitless. I thought last week Wednesday was IWSG day and nearly had a panic attack that I hadn’t wrote and scheduled a post. Imagine my relief and surprise that I worried over nothing.
I’m writing this post to say my sorta-goodbye. I say sorta, because I’ll still be posting for IWSG, the first Wednesday of the month. So at least the blog won’t have too many tumbleweeds going by.
I’ll be using my break until I return to my regularly blogging schedule to do several things (and not in this order). Here’s what I’ll be up to the next four months and why:
1. Review and revamp my 2017 writing goals
Whether you’re on plan it doesn’t hurt to review your original goals. Sometimes life happens or maybe you’ve changed your mind about a writing project or two. Remember, nothing is set in stone. Continue reading
It’s that time again. It’s the first Wednesday of the month and my fellow blogging writers and I are doing it again. This writing journey is not easy but Commander Peter Quincy Taggart said it best: “Never give up. Never surrender.” And thanks goes to ninja extraordinaire Alex Cavanaugh for creating this support community. So we can do just that. For ourselves and each other.

Happy IWSG Day! What’s going with me this month?
Well, I’m preparing for my much needed blog break. But don’t worry, I’ll still pop up back into society for IWSG. Even have a blog post or two that I couldn’t not blog about during my break. Until then, I have two more official posts in May before I go on break.
Last year I did a series of “Did You Know” and “On This Day” posts. Posts honoring men, women and writing/publishing related events. In particular for Black History Month. As well as Women’s History Month. Well, it’s back again, this time all year around. Featuring local, national and international events. And today’s event in history is sure to be a doozie. If you’re a soap fan that is, especially this one.
On this day, January 25th, the first broadcast of The Guiding Light (shortened to Guiding Light in 1975) aired on NBC Radio in 1937? The series was first created by actress and writer Irna Phillips. In fact Ms. Phillips was the soap’s chief writer for 21 years. Before she transferred to sister soap As the World Turns in 1958. Another soap she created. And for a bit of trivia, her protege Agnes Nixon, took over as head writer after Ms. Phillips transfer. And later went on to create the soap operas All My Children and One Life to Live.
