Seismic Crimes Blog Tour & Giveaway

My Goals for Seismic Crimes

All writers have a goal or several for the book they’re writing. They may want it to make readers laugh or scare them. They may want to explore a certain character type or share an emotional story.

For Seismic Crimes, I had two main goals:

#1 Donovan

Hurricane Crimes was solely in Beth’s POV, so we didn’t get to know Donovan, which at the time was my goal. I wanted him to be mysterious. But for Seismic Crimes, I wanted to reveal every side to Donovan and make him relatable. I did that by writing every other chapter in his perspective. I showed his grief, anger and passion. Sharing his life, experiences and thoughts helps us to understand the man that is Donovan.

#2 Love

Donovan and Beth declare their love for each other at the end of Hurricane Crimes, but they barely know each other. Growing their relationship was my second goal for this book. I accomplished that by letting them do what all couples do when they first meet and start dating. They talked and asked questions, went on dates, traveled together, enjoyed the holidays, met their families and, of course, were intimate. Very intimate. 😉

An Internal Affairs Investigator was murdered and his brother, Donovan Goldwyn, was framed. Now Donovan is desperate to prove his innocence. And the one person who

can do that is the woman who saved him from a deadly hurricane—Beth Kennedy. From the moment their fates intertwined, passion consumed him. He wants her in his arms. More, he wants her by his side in his darkest moments.

Beth Kennedy may not know everything about Donovan, but she can’t deny what she feels for him. It’s her love for him that pushes her to do whatever she has to do to help him get justice, including putting herself in a criminal’s crosshairs.

When a tip reveals the killer’s location, they travel to California, but then an earthquake of catastrophic proportions separates them. As aftershocks roll the land, Beth and Donovan have to endure dangerous conditions while trying to find their way back to one another. Will they reunite and find the killer, or will they lose everything?

Today’s poem is an old favorite of mine for many years now. And written by one of my favorite poets William Butler Yeats. It is also the inspiration behind my epic fantasy WIP Harbingers of El Tinor.

Did You Know…World Poetry Day*

Happy World Poetry Day!

Did you know that today, March 21st, is World Poetry Day? It is a worldwide celebration of poetry, literature and free speech. It’s sole purpose is to promote the reading and teaching of poetry. And its connection with the other arts. As well as the human connectivity poetry provides.

To celebrate the day, I went on a search for a poem to share with you. Poring through my notebooks and binder of poetry when the thought hit me. Since I’m currently doing a blog book tour for Can You Catch My Flow? so why not share a poem that was cut from the manuscript. So here is a poem I wrote during my college poetry workshop:
