It’s April 1st and you know what that means. And no I’m not talking about April Fool’s Day which also happens to be Fred and George Weasley’s birthday. But it’s the first day of National Poetry Month!
Now usually I have something planned to celebrate. But this year I have nothing planned. I have too much going on at the moment. I’m doing the 85K90 writing challenge and using April as a catch up month to write the ~35K word count needed to make goal. Then there’s also NaPoWriMo, writing 30 poems in 30 days challenge too.
I thought whether I should go ahead and still post something everyday for April. Like reblogging my favorite and past poetry month blog posts. Reblog poetry posts from other websites. Or continue my blogging schedule, posting once a week every Monday. Anyhow, we’ll see how things goes.
Anyways, to start this month off right, I’m sharing the poem that made me an instant fan of Elizabeth Acevedo.
Elizabeth Acevedo has a new book out, published last month on March 6, 2018, “The Poet X.” Click on the image below to find it on Amazon.
How are you celebrating National Poetry Month? Are you taking part in NaPoWriMo (writing 30 poems in 30 days)? Who’s your favorite poet? What poem/poet got you interested in poetry?
