It’s November already and the first Wednesday of the month. Once again new and old friends, all of us writers, come out of her little writing holes. And offer much needed support and encouragement to continue on our writing journeys. Of course, thanks goes to ninja extraordinaire Alex Cavanaugh in getting us altogether.
And thanks goes to the awesome co-hosts posting today: Tonja Drecker, Diane Burton, MJ Fifield, and Rebecca Douglass!

What’s going on with me this month?
Well Halloween yesterday was a success. I was afraid I’d run out of candy the way my sons were handing them out (they were very generous). My favorite costume was a teenager dressed as Naruto the 4th Hokage. In the end I have a bunch of caramel candy left over I’ll need to hide from their grubby little hands.
Now for the pièce de résistance…Happy NaNoWriMo!
Today begins the day where my hero and heroine are brought to the world (of me and my Chromebook) in all their partying, playing and sensual glory. Oh, what should I put them through?
I’ll be working on the sequel of romance Dream Brotha series and set a personal goal of writing 30k words. As well as finish writing the final chapters of my YA fantasy. In the meantime, I’ll be writing between starting my day, dropping kids off and picking them up at school. Work, laundry, cooking, a full house at Thanksgiving, etc. Whew, it ain’t easy being a working writing parent.
If you’re also doing NaNoWriMo, here’s where you can find me so we can be buddies.
What’s going on with you this month? How was your Halloween?
Were you on pins and needles and counting down to NaNoWriMo 12am? Is this your first year participating? Are you following an outline or are you pantsing?
November 1 question – Win or not, do you usually finish your NaNo project? Have any of them gone on to be published?
I don’t plan to win NaNoWriMo. Instead I use the event to write as much of a novel as possible. I’ve yet to have any of my NaNo novel projects published but I hope to one day. So far, I have them posted on Wattpad (three of which are currently on hold), as a way to build readership.
I am so torn between following my outline and just winging it. Ugh. I think I need to stick to my outline for now. Good luck!

I do a bit of both. I’m a plantser but like to set up a foundation to branch off of when writing a story. So I semi-plot an outline and rough sketch some scenes before I unleash my characters to write their story. Whether they follow the outline or not is not important. I only have it in place as a guideline to go back to if I feel I’ve drifted too far away from the story.

Good luck you NaNo rebel.
We haven’t had kids come to the door for candy in years. If they did, I wouldn’t know what to give them. They aren’t getting my Hot Tamales.

Thanks Milady. Will need all the luck I can get. Knowing my FMC, she’ll make it difficult for my MMC. 😀

Happy NaNo!!!
I love that you said you don’t use the challenge to win but more as motivation. That’s what I do. I’ve never signed up, though.

Learned that works best for me after I first participated in 2013 after knowing about NaNoWriMo for years. Also I appreciate all the more what I’ve been able to do in that month even if I didn’t “win.”

I love your plan and the idea of personal goals. You can’t loose, but good luck anyway. 🙂

Yesterday was a busy Halloween for me as well. I pre-make bags and started with 80. Ended up giving out 118 bags total. A lot of kids passed through.
I’m doing NaNo for the first time, already added you as my buddy. Your November sounds like mine. I was squeezing words in between laundry and such today as well. No outline, doing NaNo the Pantser way. We’ll see how it works out.

I think less kids passed through this year instead of last year. I was afraid I’d run out of candy the way my sons were handing out. Lost count the number of times I’d told them to give out two of the smaller candies and only one of the larger ones. SMH. Didn’t get to do laundry to day and got out of cooking but won’t be so lucky tomorrow. Sigh.
Good luck pantsing.

I spent Halloween holding my new grandson in the hospital. My neighbor handed out our candy. Good luck with NaNo. It’s not for everyone, but looks like you’ve found a way to make it your own.

Now that’s a treat that keeps on giving. Thanks Diane and enjoy your new grandson.
