In honor of Women’s History Month I’m dedicating one of my favorite poems by Maya Angelou. And to always remember, you’re a phenomenal woman.
How was everyone’s International Women’s day last week? Care to share how you celebrated the day. Did you participate in A Day Without a Woman?
I’ve admired Maya Angelou since I read “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” years ago along with some of her poetry. Have you seen the American Masters episode on her on PBS? Magnificent! Thanks for posting this clip.
Yes, I did participate in the Day Without a Woman. No regular blog post. Wore red. Shared feminist articles.

I’ve read the book years ago also and what stood out the most to me was how Uncle Willie had to hide in a potato bin.
I’ve yet to have seen that but luckily they still have the video online to watch.

From her words, she obviously embraced every aspect of being a woman. Good for her. And looks like she lead an adventurous life as well.

Oh that she did. She even became life long friends with Nelson Mandela after she met him working as a journalist in South Africa.

It was an okay day. Can’t say I was worshiped, but maybe next year. 😉

Me either. But I was glad to hear most businesses had to close because of a day without a woman. Served as proof positive of a woman’s importance and worth in the workforce. After this, I hope it serves as a basis to push harder for equal pay. Here’s to hoping.
