Hey all! It’s the first Wednesday of the month. Know what that means? It’s IWSG day! A day where us writers get together in the blogosphere to share our successes and concerns. Well, I finally wrote a new chapter to my manuscript. Took a month off from Dreaming of You because of NaNoWriMo. And though I hadn’t written much since after November 31, I still made notes. I still thought about scenarios. And about plot points. Until I finally managed to complete a draft of chapter eight. Now I have a new chapter nine which I’m dedicating to a friend I made on Twitter.
Also, during all the time my mind spent brewing over story details, the muse stepped in. And decided to hit me outside the head with more bouts of inspiration for the sequel, Not Dreaming of You. I was inspired so much that I’ve already created a secret story board on Pinterest. And I think I just might’ve found my novel for NaNoWriMo 2017. We’ll see what happens ten months from now.
In the meantime I have to get back on the band wagon when it comes to submitting my writing.

February 1 Question: How has being a writer changed your experience as a reader?
I’m much more aware of reading not just for pleasure but as a learning experience. Well written or not, I’m learning the basic concepts of what makes great storytelling.

In January I continued with revising my NaNo novel from 2009. I hate to say that the end is in sight, but maybe… I’ve tried to find all the notes I’ve made and tucked away to incorporate or toss. I need a better system. To that end, I started a “stuff that needs fixing” doc after reading an interview with author Liane Moriarty.

Interesting. Used to have my notes everywhere but made folders and subfolders once they started growing larger. And I started coming up with more story ideas. So now I two separate folders for story ideas (future) and current WIPs. And I’ve tried to collect and save my notes to the proper places.

Yeah, Pinterest is good for creating storyboards. All the information I might need for a story and images of people, places, clothes, etc. Until I’m ready to start writing the story, the board will remain secret.

Thanks. Was starting to think I was counting chickens before they hatched. It’s just planning ahead and once I’m ready to dive in, I’ll have what I need to shape, mold, sculpt the story into a working draft.

I did Nano 2016, and like you, I’m still chipping away at my manuscript. We’ve got this!

Yes we do. To stay in course and true to the story i try to remember to write the story i want ro read. And to write like no one will read it.

I’m one of the few who doesn’t do NaNo. Last year, I did a twist on it and made editing goals for the month and got on the NaNoRebel hashtag to keep motivated.

So you were a rebel? Did you meet your editing goals? Worked on an old WIP for last year’s NaNo. But that didn’t make me a rebel as they changed the rulesas. And writing additional words to it wasn’t rebeling.

Learning from what you read helps me, because books play like movies in my head, so when I learn from others mistakes and what they get right it helps me visualize my story better. Great Post. Happy IWSG Day
