Hi I’m back.
And sorry I’m late with today’s post. But that’s been the theme for the past couple of weeks. Sorry, I’m late to wake up in the mornings. Sorry I’m late with catching up my word counts. Sorry I’m late to realize I started NaNoWriMo wrong (from the beginning and not the middle of the story). Sorry I didn’t give Harbingers of El Tinor my complete attention.
Sorry, sorry, sorry. I need to stop saying that.
So as you can tell, though I had no attention to “win” NaNoWriMo 2016. It has been the most abysmal one I’ve had in the few years I’ve been participating. It what was a slow and steady start but then I hit a speed bump. The 2016 presidential elections. Which led to a detour, no, my engine dying on the road with no access to AAA, because of post election result blues.
Than add in I tried to start writing from the beginning. When I’ve learned I write much better, proactively, etc if I start in the middle. And the piece de resistance, reading during NaNoWriMo. Yup, I was gone.
Gone but at least still not out. As I’ve said before NaNoWriMo doesn’t exactly have to end at 11:59 on November 30th. I’ll continue working on Harbingers. And there’s still my first romance, Dreaming of You, waiting for me too.
So what are my plans for NaNoWriMo?
Keep writing, duh.
How was NaNoWriMo for you? Learned any lessons from it? Is it for you or not? What do you plan to do in the now what months after NaNoWriMo?

Yeah, I don’t do NaNo. Not the way my brain works. As for the sorries… I read somewhere when you feel like you’re apologizing for everything, change the statement to a thank you one. Maybe that’ll help?

Hmm. Then I should give thanks for to Harbingers of El Tinor for getting back into my writing and then start blogging. Thanks to NaNoWriMo too, because although I’ve never ‘won’ I have WIPs that I’m uploading on Wattpad. And revising/rewriting to submit/query one day (just hoping the one day won’t take too long). Thanks Liz! 😀

I didn’t participate this year. Too much going on and my outline wasn’t ready. Even if you didn’t win, it still prompted you to write, and that’s important.

I managed to get myself together and write 50k, though a few days before November started it wasn’t looking likely because I left my outline really late. I write in massive bursts so I tend to load up on words early in the month because I always hit a slump when, through a lack of time, energy, inclination or a combination, I don’t write much.
A lot of people struggled this year because of the election. You’re not alone.

Yeah, I’d lost my mojo and still on wobbly legs on getting back on track. But I’m getting there.

I love NaNo and have participated every year for the past decade. I’ve won each time–this year was hard for me as well, though; at least 15k was written in the last few days alone. Now I’m in the process of completing the first draft. 🙂
There’s no need for sorries. Focus on your accomplishments–you’ve started a new story, learned more about how your writing progress flows best, and have other WIPs you’re focusing on as well. 🙂
